An unusual round earth mound stands in the midst of a valley bordering the hamlet Burk. In the middle ages this so- called motte served as the foundation of a wooden castle known as a motte-and-bailey castle. The castle was the residence of the former rulers of Seeg. The motte is surrounded by a wide moat which used to protect the main castle. Hardly any traces of the former castle ward have remained.
The motte has been overbuilt by private owners, but can still be viewed freely from the outside. It is one of the most beautiful motte-and-bailey castles in Germany.
